Job description

1. Always records phlebotomy collection information into the Laboratory Information System with accurate attention to name of patient, collection time, and receive time. 2. Accurately and successfully performs venipunctures, following phlebotomy policies and procedures 3. Accurately and successfully performs finger sticks on adult and pediatric patients, following phlebotomy policies and procedures. 4. Accurately and successfully performs heel sticks on infants, following phlebotomy policies and procedures. 5. Maintains phlebotomy trays/area, supply area, and waiting room in a clean and orderly fashion. 6. Always follows patient identification policies and procedures. Labels samples in presence of the patient. 7. Performs general duties and task according to standards provided by regularly agencies for laboratory accreditation (i.e. TJC NPSGs, etc.). 8. Accurately collects chain of custody urine samples and completes collection documentation. 9. Always follows laboratory requirements for use of personal protection equipment. 10. Accurately demonstrates general computer skills necessary for order entry and medical necessity for lab order in laboratory computer system. 11. Willing ch...
