Rural Metro Fire is seeking a full-time Fire Captain - Airport in Des Moines, IA, with a passion for aviation firefighting and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment. Under general direction of the Fire Chief, the Fire Captain, supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires; rescuing persons endangered by aircraft crash and fire or structural fires; preventing fire by reducing or eliminating potential fire hazards; responding to and providing assistance for medical aid calls, vehicle accidents, and Hazmat incidents on airport grounds. Essential Functions: - Supervising day-to-day ARFF functions, developing staff to a high degree of competence, and overseeing the assignment of subordinates to include maintaining airport contract minimum manning requirements. - Enforcing discipline, good order, and the highest standards of personal and unit probity. - Analyzing problems, identifying solutions and implementing recommendations in support of Aviation Department goals, policies and procedures.
