TITLE: Custodian/Housekeeper DEPARTMENT: Facilities: REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Supervisor: CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months: EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD: STANDARD WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full - Time: EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt: JOB SUMMARY: Provide a clean, healthy and safe environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors. Our staff will communicate with professionalism, utilize environmentally friendly products and meet th e University’s needs. Housekeepers will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining University buildings. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies. - Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal. - May change light bulbs as directed. - Locks doors after cleaning areas. - Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. - Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, windows, tiles, fixtures, equipment and floors. - Vacuums, dusts, and polishes specified areas and/or furnishings.
