Established in 1979 as Pennsylvania’s first Trauma ICU, the unit has a rich history of pioneering trauma services. The Trauma ICU cares for critically ill patients with a wide range of traumatic injuries, including blunt and penetrating trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and multi-system trauma, as well as post-operative surgical patients requiring intensive care management. The diverse patient population and varying acuity levels offer nurses a comprehensive and challenging experience, preparing them to excel in critical care.
