Department/Unit: Microbiology Work Shift: Evening (United States of America) Salary Range: $59,066.00 - $88,599.00 Lab Info Tech: The Laboratory Information Technologist (LIT) receives specimens and verifies identification on these specimens, verifies information on the written request, transfers this information into the computer system and sends the specimen to the appropriate testing area(s). The LIT retrieves laboratory data and reports and assists authorized personnel, while maintaining patient confidentiality. This individual is also responsible for keeping the surrounding area clean and organized. Job Duties: - Utilizes computer systems to perform inquiries, order tests, transcribe results, generate billing, worksheets, and reports as assigned according to standard laboratory practices. - Communicates effectively with nursing staff, physicians and other hospital departments. - Demonstrates basic-keyboarding skills needed for a highly computerized laboratory environment. - Consults supervising technologist or laboratory services directory for assistance when necessary. - Verifies that patient demographic information on specimen corresponds to that on the test order requisitio...
