Schedule PRN, Rotating Shift: General Summary: Provides direct care to patients by performing a variety of duties, including assisting with data collection, provision of care, completion of selected therapeutic interventions, and documentation of care provided for a specified group of patients. The purpose of the Respiratory Therapy Intern Program is to provide the RT student therapist with enhanced experiential learning and improve clinical competence in an acute care setting. The respiratory intern is accountable to a designated preceptor and department manager. Essential Functions: - Provides information needed by the registered respiratory therapist to coordinate the care for the patient and family. - Administers respiratory therapy modalities as per the physician, clinical practice guidelines and/or clinical pathway. - Assists with patient assessment. - Monitors patient condition levels and reports changes to the appropriate individuals. - Performs selected procedures if demonstrated competency (skills checklist/competency verification must be provided).
