Job description

Overview Inspects, maintains, and repairs locomotives in accordance with FRA regulations. Second Shift - 1500-2300, Days off Tuesday/Wednesday Initial pay between $28.31/hr - $31.85/hr based off experience. Salary will increase to $35.39/hr once qualified (typically takes 6 months to a year) Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly. - Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. - Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of units to ensure functionality and performance. - Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. - Performs mechanical inspection on locomotives and repairs defects to conform to FRA regulations. - Tests locomotives for performance by use of load box. - Replaces brake shoes on locomotives. - Disassembles and rebuilds locomotive trucks and replaces wheel sets and traction motors. - Repairs and rebuilds diesel engines, air compressors, and many other locomotive components. - Disassembles and reassembles locomotives and machinery.
