Unit Clerk - Per Diem Shift: 6:45pm - 7:15am: Job Description: PATIENT POPULATION: The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of a licensed Nurse, the Unit Clerk is responsible for performing and organizing the clerical activities necessary to maintain the medical record, ordering of office and medical supplies, and the coordination of on-going activities within the assigned unit. Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Unit Clerk will perform individual assigned patient care activities based on policies and procedure guidelines. Specific areas of responsibility could include monitoring patient vital signs, providing hygiene care, assisting in nutritional needs, and recording the care that has been provided in the patient care record. Under the direction of the Charge Nurse or Nursing Supervisor the role of Unit Clerk is responsible for assisting in assigning and placing patients in appropriate rooms.
