Job description

Introduction The Flow Modeling group within the D&E Machine Conditioning – Defectivity & Optics Lifetime (OLT) Solutions department focuses on delivering high-fidelity simulation capabilities to support product performance and risk mitigation. The team leverages advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and multi-physics modeling to address complex challenges related to defectivity, contamination control, and flow-induced effects across ASML platforms. Your assignment: This project aims to complete the porting of SPARTA DSMC modules to Kokkos to enable full GPU acceleration for internal-flow simulations. While many SPARTA kernels are already GPU-enabled, critical routines for internal flows (e.g. surface-based particle emission such as fix emit/face) are still CPU-only. The internship will focus on identifying these missing components, implementing Kokkos-based GPU kernels, and validating them on representative internal-flow DSMC cases. Enabling these capabilities is essential to efficiently simulate rarefied internal flows relevant to EUV and vacuum systems. This work will significantly expand the applicability of DSMC for large-scale simulations and design optimization. This is...
