Title: Assistant Attorney General, Office of Civil Rights State Role Title: Assistant Attorney General Hiring Range: Commensurate with Experience: Pay Band: UG: Agency: Attorney General & Dept of Law Location: Office of the Attorney General Agency Website: https://www.oag.state.va.us/: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties: This position enforces the Virginia Fair Housing Law (VFHL) and the Virginia Human Rights Act (VHRA). The attorney conducts investigations and brings civil actions under the VFHL and the VHRA that raise an issue of general public importance or that involve a pattern or practice of discrimination in housing, employment, and places of public accommodation. The attorney advises and conducts litigation for the Fair Housing and Real Estate Boards under the VFHL. The position requires the ability to conduct complex civil litigation in state circuit courts involving subject matter jurisdiction, adequacy and admissibility of evidence, proper application of judicial precedent, and the rules of civil procedure.
