Location: Oakland,California,United States Program Overview: Safe Passages is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the well-being, academic success, and economic self-sufficiency of children, youth, and families. AmeriCorps VISTA members build the long-term capacity of Safe Passages and its partner sites by developing systems, tools, and partnerships that expand access to critical services across Oakland and the Bay Area. Position Summary: Safe Passages Summer Associate VISTAs serve in school-linked programs in Oakland to support academic engagement, mentoring, and basic needs outreach for students and families in high-poverty communities. Summer Associates assist with summer academic enrichment and project-based learning activities, provide mentoring and social-emotional support to youth, and help coordinate family outreach and basic needs resources such as summer food distribution and referrals.
