Shift : Per Diem: Location: Baystate Medical Center, Springfield MA Summary Description: Under the direction of the Manager of the Endovascular Surgical Suites, the cardiac Perfusionist is responsible for the operation of the heart-lung machine during surgery and the operation of special mechanical devices to assist in the conversion of blood and blood products. Operation of the heart-lung machine requires many skills and an extensive knowledge of medicine. The perfusionist must be prepared to deal with many emergency situations under extreme pressure. As an integral part of the heart team, the perfusionist must be able to communicate effectively and get along with physicians, nurses and other members of the team. Job Requirements: 1) Responsible for patient management while on heart-lung bypass.
