The Baillie Group’s, Wagner Lumber, in Owego, NY is hiring for a Procurement Forester. This is a full-time opportunity working for a world class hardwood lumber manufacturer. The person filling this position should be proficient at all duties required of a procurement forester. This includes (but is not limited to) all aspects of locating, assessing, costing and negotiating the purchase and successful harvest of standing timber. The purpose is to supply logs to multiple hardwood sawmills. Procurement Forester Responsibilities: ◦ Locate and mark boundary lines. ◦ Cruise standing timber for quantity. ◦ Appraise timber for quality and value. ◦ Locate skid roads and landing locations. ◦ Apply costs to all aspects of timber sale preparation and harvesting. ◦ Visit harvest sites to determine if BMPs are being used appropriately. ◦ Assure boundary lines are being observed. ◦ Determine whether residual damage is acceptable. ◦ Check to see that the proper trees are being cut. ◦ Title research. ◦ Qualify properties in advanc...
