Job Description Under the direct supervision of the Section Supervisor, obtains and prepares specimens for analysis and performs various screening tests. The Phlebotomist reports to the Section Supervisor and maintains a cooperative working relationship with patients, patients’ families, medical staff, and interdepartmental and intradepartmental personnel. SHIFT AND SCHEDULE: Part Time, Full Time, Days & Nights Available, Weekends/Holidays, On Call Required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: - Obtains blood specimens. - Checks the computer labels against the patient Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) armband. - Verifies positive patient identification per MMH policy. - Performs veni-puncture and capillary sticks using the aseptic technique and in accordance with department procedures. Observes hospital isolation procedures. - Follows Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute order of draw. - Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintains specimen integrity. - Coordinates the collection of therapeutic drug-monitoring assays with nursing personnel to ensure the proper drug dose to collection time. - Coordinates special laboratory studies with...
