Classification Title: OPS - Healthcare Classification Minimum Requirements: Classification Minimum Requirements are the baseline requirements for Staff Titles and Academic Titles found at the University of Florida. - Demonstrated competency in venipuncture or completion of an approved phlebotomy training course. - Ability to work weekends and holidays from 8–12 PM. - Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-acuity environment. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Job Description: The lab technician assistant is a dedicated veterinary phlebotomy role that directly supports patient care in the ICU and PCW units. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate collection of blood samples, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and prompt delivery to the in house Clinical Pathology Laboratory. The role also includes performing, recording, and charging for STAT laboratory tests completed within the ICU’s on site lab space. During peak morning hours, this position focuses primarily on high volume phlebotomy and stat testing.
