Job description

Performs specimen receiving, processing, transport/delivery/distribution, and storage. Prepares specimens for diagnostic and prognostic analyses and testing. Delivers specimens to testing areas as needed. Operates a variety of manual and automated laboratory and office equipment and programs, enters information, performs order entry, troubleshooting, and retrieves and verifies patient collection data and patient special notations using appropriate laboratory and electronic health systems and other applications. Ensures and maintains positive patient identification throughout all processes and performs all job duties and responsibilities in a safe, accurate and professional manner. Resolves pre-analytic specimen-related issues in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). May process, prepare, and ship specimens for transport to internal Mayo Clinic lab sites and referral labs. May prepare and ship mail out kits. May perform reagent preparation and handling, assist with supply inventory and stocking operate automated systems, provide training to others, clerical, processing, filing, receiving shipments, cleaning, and other job-related duties as assigned.
