Sterile Processing Technician (Full-Time, Evening/Night)

Job description

The position of Sterile Proc Tech 1 is responsible for the coordination, preparation, and delivery of hospital instrumentation and equipment. The Prep Technician also assists with the decontamination and delivery of hospital equipment and surgical instrumentation are properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized after each use. The Gastro Assistant is also responsible for assisting with the admission, transfer and discharge processes. - TECHNICAL TASKS - Maintains workstation and Prep/ Decontam areas in a neat, orderly, and efficient manner at all times. - Ensures the cleanliness of all instruments processed by inspection and adherence to all nationally recognized infection control standards with special attention given to crevices, box locks, cannulas, and other aspects necessary per instrument. - Assists other departments and personnel in acquiring instrumentation/equipment. - Demonstrates a complete understanding of Prep / Decontam policies and procedures. - Checks all instrument sets accurately per lists or policy. - Removes and replaces all known defective instruments from sets and informs appropriate personnel.
