POSITION TITLE: Elementary Resource Teacher DEPARTMENT : Special Education: SCHOOL LEVEL: Elementary: STATUS: Certified – Contract: HOURS OF WORK / CALENDAR: 4 0 hours / 187-calendar POSITION SUMMARY : This position is responsible for a special education resource classroom . Th e person in this position is expected to plan, organize , and implement an appropriate inst ruct ional program for an elementary environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Th ey must demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds . They will participate in professional activities as well as extracurricular and/or academic support activities. This position is part of the special education team and reports to the principal . PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans, instructional materials and tests to facilitate active learning. Instruct, encourage and monitor students' learning--adjusting strategies as needed to optimize learning. Assign, grade and provide feedback on class work, homework, tests and assignments.
