Description New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a continuing contract (non-tenure track) Clinical Assistant Professor in Teaching and Learning with a specialization in American Sign Language to begin on 9/1/2026. The appointed faculty member will be a member of the Department of Teaching and Learning with an affiliation in Special Education. The primary responsibilities of this faculty member are to offer courses developing proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). We seek applicants who are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) (National Certification in ASL, ASLTA certification, or RID-certified strongly preferred) and have pedagogical expertise in teaching ASL (beginner and advanced courses), as well as one or more of the following subjects: deaf culture, special education, inclusive pedagogy, linguistics, or related fields. Candidates must demonstrate strong cross-cultural understanding.
