Description Position Description: Simpson College is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the Upward Bound Academic Advisor position. This is a full-time 11-month (mid-August - mid-July) position. The Simpson College Upward Bound program strives to provide individualized assistance and opportunities to potential first-generation and/or low-income students in grades 9 - 12 to succeed in high school and ultimately in their college pursuits. This is done through intensive advising services, rigorous and nurturing academic support, and culturally enriching activities. The program serves 52 students at high schools in Des Moines and Warren County. Duties/Responsibilities: The functions listed are essential to the position; however, this is not a complete list of all responsibilities. - Provide academic and post-secondary advisement to project participants based on identified individual needs. - Assist with planning, development, implementation, and delivery of programs and services. - Assist with coordinating and designing curriculum for the academic year. - Serve as a liaison between Upward Bound, community agencies, and target schools. - Coordinate college visits...
