Description The Family Translational Research Group (FTRG) within the Center for Oral Health Policy & Management at the New York University College of Dentistry is looking for talented, hard-working people passionate about (a) understanding and preventing family violence and (b) implementation science to join our team. FTRG conducts a wide variety of cutting-edge clinical psychology research on range of topics, such as defining maltreatment in ways that can be reliably used by clinicians in the field, determining how couples’ conflict dynamics relate to violence, examining the effects of family violence on children’s psychological and physical functioning, and furthering our understanding of risk and protective factors for child maltreatment and partner abuse. In addition to this basic research, FTRG is involved in several large prevention efforts in the military and is conducting innovative implementation science research. We are currently engaged in two studies examining innovative ways to treat dental fear and phobia to make effective treatment more accessible.
