UNIT PROFILE: The Inpatient Medical Services Team provides comprehensive acute and chronic medical care for all inpatients at the West 5th Campus in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The successful applicant will work cohesively on a team of other nurse practitioners completing patient health histories and physical examinations, while providing acute and chronic disease management throughout the course of the patient’s admission. POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an autonomous health care provider who works in collaboration with physicians, other members of the interdisciplinary team and patients/families to provide evidence-informed and integrated medical care to the Mental Health and Addiction Program inpatients. The NP's practice is grounded in professional, ethical and legal standards using advanced nursing knowledge, skill, experience, clinical reasoning, problem solving and critical thinking. The NP builds and expands on established RN competencies with an expanded scope of practice based on legislative authority to autonomously perform the controlled acts.
