Key job responsibilities: - Plan, layout, construct, maintain, alter, and repair complicated multi-station progressive, single purpose blanking, piercing and forming dies, as well as a variety of drills, holding and clamping fixtures. - Design dies and make or direct the making of detailed drawings. - Work from drawings, sketches, samples, written and verbal instructions. - Visualize finished job, make necessary mathematical calculations, select allowances for fitting and finishing. - Plan, layout, and perform intricate machining operations on tool room equipment involving exacting setups and adjustments to maintain very close tolerances and skilled bench and hand operations. Experience with CNC equipment is beneficial. - Determine repairs required on dies returned to tool room. - Perform emergency repairs to dies in the press department. - Perform any variety of die grinding, shimming, replacement of progressive die components. - Make up repair par...
