POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care and support within the ambulatory setting. The Medical Assistant accurately completes patient interviews, collects appropriate specimens, assists the physician with patient exams, maintains departmental inventory, provides patient education, and ensures quality direct patient care and non-professional services as directed by Physician. This position is also responsible for performing the following as required by position: phlebotomy for diagnostic studies, CLIA waived testing. This position may also complete EKG's and drug and alcohol testing. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. As part of the Virtualist Program, this position is responsible for collecting patient intakes remotely and assisting in telehealth visits as directed by the physician. This position is not responsible for doing any hands-on patient exams and procedures, collecting specimens or phlebotomy for diagnostic studies. For this program, BLS certification is excluded.
