Job Description Position: Laundry Attendant: Department: Housekeeping Operations Job Summary: Ensures that all laundry are washed and recorded in accordance with established rules and procedures. Ensures that all equipment is switched off when not in use or not being supervised. Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to): - Receives and marks items for laundry with identifying code numbers or names, using hand or machine markers. - Examines and sorts laundry into lots to be cleaned according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required. - Checks all linen and articles of clothing for stains and damage; reports damaged articles to supervisor. - Inspects soiled articles to determine sources of stains, locate color imperfections, and identify items requiring special treatment. - Uses appropriate protective clothing when handling soiled or infected linen. - Regulates machine processes with the right volume of water, bleach, detergent, starch, and other additives. - Mixes and adds detergents, bleaches, dyes, starches, and chemicals to color, clean, dry, or stiffen articles. - Loads articles into washers. - Sorts and c...
