Job Description The NYC Law Department is now accepting applications for the position of Law Student (Student Legal Specialist) serving in the Administrative Law & Regulatory Litigation Division. Under the supervision of an attorney, a law student in Administrative Law & Regulatory Litigation will handle their own cases with respect to defending determinations dealing with vital records of the City of New York such as birth and death certificates, litigate and appear in Housing Court on behalf of various City agencies dealing with quality of life, health and safety issues, and prepare responses to motions in matters the Division is prosecuting in Criminal Court for violations of provisions of the Fire Code, Building Code, or Administrative Code. The selected candidate for the position will report to a supervising attorney, performing duties that include, but are not limited to: preparing pleadings, drafting memoranda of law, interviewing witnesses and preparing affidavits, and regularly appearing in Court to argue motions.
