Summary Job Description: Position Summary The pharmacy residency program is a twelve-month postgraduate training program designed to develop a skilled practitioner who is prepared to deliver patient-centered pharmaceutical services and interact with members of the health care team accountable for the care of patients with complex conditions in a community hospital environment. The resident will also be prepared to pursue postgraduate year two (PGY2) training if so desired. The resident will be responsible for supervising and performing in all pharmacy operations in accordance with accredited hospital policies and procedures, ethical and professional practices, The Joint Commission standards, and State and Federal requirements. The resident will act in compliance with the ASHP accreditation standard for postgraduate residency programs. Pharmacy Residents are responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, and prompt medication therapy. Through various assignments within the department, they provide support of centralized and decentralized medication use systems as well as deliver optimal medication therapy to patients with a broad range of disease states.
