Job description

Position: Landscaper 1 Department: Facilities: Job Summary: Keeps the grounds and outside areas ― including lawn areas and parking lots ― clean and free of debris. This is the first in a series of four (4) classifications. Incumbents are supervised closely and generally do not make independent decisions or judgments. Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to): - Performs soil tests and amends soil, as directed. - Rakes leaves and mows lawns. - Prepares the grounds prior to planting seeds or young plants. - Installs weed fabric and ground covers; assists with installation of irrigation systems. - Assists in tree, shrub, and flower care, including planting, seeding, transplanting, pruning, removal, and checking for disease. - Waters trees, shrubs, and lawns and performs irrigation activities. - Clears debris, rolls the ground, and removes weeds. - Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals, as directed. - Assists in the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces including asphalt repairs, minor masonry, plastering, laying pavers, and spreading gravel, rock, and bark. - Installs and removes outdoor signs, parking an...
