Description The Department of Sociology and the Center on Health, Risk and Society (CHRS) in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invite applications for a Postdoctoral Associate appointment beginning January 2015. The appointment is a 2 year term position. Applicants should hold a PhD or other terminal degree. The postdoctoral associate will be part of the department and Center’s emphasis on the social dimensions of health and should build on at least one of our current strengths at CHRS. Of particular interest are candidates whose research speaks to processes of displacement and disruption, including neighborhood change/”gentrification,” and/or incarceration/re-entry and policing, and / or immigration/ deportation. Other areas of interest in the department and center include: health across the life course, social inequality and health (health disparities), health governance and politics, and social determinants of and structural interventions to address health.
