Backup Engineer – Level 2

Job description

Role Overview We are looking for a Mid-Level Backup Engineer to join a corporate IT Data-Protection Services team within a large banking environment. The role focuses on Level 2 support for the implementation, monitoring, administration, and maintenance of enterprise backup infrastructure serving multiple internal clients across Europe. The position operates in an ITIL-aligned environment and is responsible for ensuring service stability, incident resolution, SLA compliance, capacity monitoring, and continuous improvement of backup services. Key Responsibilities: Operate, tune, and monitor enterprise backup solutions such as Cohesity, Veritas NetBackup, IBM Spectrum Protect / TSM, Dell DataDomain, Quantum DXI, and CommVault . Manage backup alarms, verify job health, and perform regular infrastructure health checks. Execute file-level, image-level, and application-aware restores. Own Level 2 incidents, including triage, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, resolution, and escalation to Level 3 or vendors when needed.
