Job description

Job Function 1 Direct Patient Care: Assists with ADLs, hygiene, mobility, toileting, and emotional support. Administers basic treatments (e.g. dressing changes, telemetry, specimen collection). Supports nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. Assists patients with daily activities. Measures and records weights. Measures and records vital signs, I&Os, and monitors patient condition. Performs blood glucose monitoring. Job Function 2: Reports changes in patient condition: Knowledgeable of the normal values and ranges for vital signs and I&O’s, recognizes abnormal findings and reports to the primary nurse. Participates in daily Huddle. Documents timely in the patients’ medical record. Job Function 3: Determines priorities of care: Demonstrates flexibility in responding to patient needs while completing assignments. Completes all assignments unless otherwise directed by charge nurse. Works as a team member in meeting the unit needs. Seeks approval for reprioritization of more complex events deviating from original assignment. Performs activities as needed without supervision.
