Job Summary: The Nurse Clinician-Specialty Team Centers is a registered nurse with clinical expertise in caring for patients with specific serious pediatric diseases, physical limitations and chronic health conditions. Works in the outpatient clinic environment and demonstrates advanced knowledge of diseases treated in over eighteen Specialty Care Clinics licensed under Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH) and approved by California Children's Services (CCS). Employs discretion and independent judgment to provide developmentally appropriate and age-specific direct and indirect patient care and oversees Licensed Vocational Nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel. Continually expands knowledge base in area of specialty and stays current with evolving evidenced-based best practices, clinical practice guidelines, related state and federal regulations and available technology. Utilizes disease-specific knowledge base and the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) independently to evaluate patient and caregiver level of understanding of disease, treatment, complications and self-management of the disease.
