Job description

Under the general supervision of a licensed physician, evaluates and treats patients with medical and/or surgical problems and assists in delivery of emergency care within the scope of emergency medicine practice. Performs routine histories and physical examinations; performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests and/or procedures as detailed in the department specific scope of practice. May participate in training, recruiting, quality assurance activities and other administrative roles and/or functions as requested by department leadership. Delivers direct patient care. Under the general supervision of a licensed physician: Job requires completion of NYS-approved program for training of physician assistant, minimum Bachelor of Science program/degree in Physician Assistant studies. 1 to 2-years of emergency medicine experience is preferred however, it is not required to apply for the position. Registration required with New York State as Physician Assistant. Certification with National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); American Heart Association or equivalent as provider of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS).
