Description JOB SUMMARY AND SCOPE: The primary functionality of this position is to effectively and efficiently schedule all patients for all outpatient services in the hospital with the exception of surgeries, infusion and rehabilitation therapy in a courteous, professional manner. Patient education will be performed by the Outpatient Scheduling Coordinator for test preparation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: *DECH is an equal opportunity employer. - Responsible for all outpatient scheduling of Imaging, Cardio Pulmonary, Nuclear Medicine, and Dietary departments. - Responsible for all aspects of outpatient scheduling: - Answer all incoming phone calls and return messages when applicable - Maintain a current working knowledge of outpatient coverage issues - Prescreen scheduled outpatient services for third party coverage including assessment of medical necessity when applicable - Obtain insurance coverage and pre-certification numbers when applicable - Assist physician office staff in understanding third party coverage issues - Communicate with patients, through the office staff or directly, regarding instructions/education specific to the service scheduled - Recognize when Advanced Bene...
