A Brief Overview: Responsible for responding and offering medical-forensic services to patients of all ages who present to a covered facility with reports of sexual assault/violence: For patients in the adolescent age (post-pubescent) and above/adults, SANE will operate independently in the medical-forensic exam; for patients who are in the pediatric/pre-pubescent age, if pediatric sexual assault training has been complete, the SANE will operate independently, otherwise SANE will assist a provider with the medical-forensic exam.
