Description Hampden-Sydney College invites applications for a full time Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology to begin in August of 2024. Applicants from all biological disciplines will be considered. Responsibilities include teaching 3 courses each semester that will include lecture and laboratory courses for our introductory-level Principles of Biology as well as the potential to offer an upper-level course appropriate to the applicant’s expertise. Competitive applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field of Biology. Hampden-Sydney highly values the teacher/scholar model of education that focuses on undergraduate teaching, advising, and student research. Candidates must be broadly trained and dedicated to undergraduate teaching and advising. While the successful candidate will not be expected to mentor student research, we welcome candidates with research mentorship experience who would be open to engaging in projects with our students. We have an active summer research program that provides housing and support for students conducting research with faculty.
