Job Title Special Program Aid (Nurse Practitioner) Agency: Texas A&M International University Department: Student Health Services Proposed Minimum Salary: $58.00 hourly Job Location: Laredo, Texas Job Type: Temporary/Casual Staff (Fixed Term) Job Description: Job Summary: The Special Program Aid (Nurse Practitioner) under general direction, provides patient care, evaluations, and treatment. Diagnoses, treats, and prescribe certain medications for illnesses and injuries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care, assessments, counseling, preparation, and treatment. Documents patient care. Prescribes medicines upon diagnoses of illness or injury, under the direction of a physician and within the limitations of Nurse Practitioner regulations. Maintains and monitors patient records, assesses health care needs, and provides patient education. Interprets lab and/or x-ray results. Performs follow-up care in conjunction with other nursing staff. Serves on committees, providing presentations and participating in divisional staff development.
