Hospital - Clinical Lab Assist (4am-2:30pm)

Job description

Under close supervision, performs phlebotomy, processes specimens, handles client inquiries, conducts waived testing, and contributes to pre-analytic laboratory tasks. WORK HOURS: 4am-2:30pm, 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts, every other weekend. “This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.” - Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients. - Receives and accessions specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS). - Prepares and aliquots specimens for various laboratory tests according to established protocols. - Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of laboratory supplies. - Provides information regarding specimen collection, test requisitions, and laboratory procedures. - Addresses inquiries and concerns; escalates complex issues to the appropriate personnel. - Ensures compliance with all applicable quality control and quality assurance measures. - Assists in the preparation and setup of laboratory equipment and instruments. - Ensures the proper handling and transportation of specimens within the laboratory. - Perform other duties...
