Description The Department of Anthropology in the School of the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for Academic Year 2016-2017 at the rank of Professorial Lecturer. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 29, 2016. Applicants should hold a PhD in Anthropology or Archaeology. We are seeking an archaeologist or biological anthropologist/archaeologist who can teach undergraduate courses in archaeology and biological anthropology. We are open to all areas of specialization, including Historical Archaeology. Applicants should emphasize public engagement and research excellence, and, they should be able to incorporate scholarly engagement in their teaching. The position will involve the teaching of three courses per semester in Anthropology, including, but not limited to, Human Origins, Introduction to Archaeology, Early America: The Buried Past, and an upper level topics course in archaeology.
