R&D Intern – Product Design Specialty Spreads for Emerging Markets

Location: Wageningen, Netherlands Hybrid: 4-5 days per week in the office Start date: September 2026: Duration: 6 months: About the role: We are looking for a curious, passionate, and driven R&D Intern to join our Ambient and Specialty Spreads team for Emerging Markets and be part of building our understanding of new technologies in sweet/flavoured spreads. In this role, you will dive into the science behind ingredient interactions in spreads and support the optimization of formulations for next-generation products. You will work on ambient and specialty spreads for emerging markets. You will gain hands-on experience in the lab and pilot plant, independently produce prototypes, conduct analysis, and lead product tastings. A key focus of the project will be exploring new technologies related to emulsions, including water-continuous emulsions, and understanding how different ingredients influence product functionality and performance. You will conduct research, combine ingredients to create prototypes at lab scale, support scale-up activities in the pilot plant, perform analytical testing, and share your findings with the team.
