Job description
Description A DOE-supported postdoctoral position is available to study the function of photosynthetic complexes and the associated interaction networks associated with their function and regulation. The work combines bioinformatic approaches with physiochemical experimental techniques to clarify basic photosynthetic mechanisms at the cellular and molecular level using a cyanobacterial model organism that is amenable to genetic engineering. The project will combine information from the genome revolution with state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools to uncover functional diversity in key components of the bioenergetics machinery. This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal for at least three years with further renewal contingent on subsequent funding success. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team involving several labs with strengths in molecular genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, and bioinformatics. The P.I.’s are dedicated to providing laboratory members with a nurturing training environment. Training will be provided in areas of photosynthetic physiology analysis using techniques such as chlorophyll fluorescence and spectroscopy to characteriz...
