About the Lead Teacher ELA-S Role: An ELA-S certification is a teacher qualification that allows a teacher to instruct in Spanish-language immersion programs. It indicates a teacher has met the requirements to teach in a program with a significant Spanish-language component. ELA-S teachers are fluent in Spanish and English, and are especially trained to teach all subjects in both languages. The certification can be obtained by passing a Spanish Language Proficiency Test and completing the required training, which is a CDE-approved program. More on these requirements can be found here .
