Job description

Transports Patients to and from scheduled treatment appointments by the use of stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, ambulation. Observes departmental and hospital safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: - Transportation of patients is carried out in a timely manner according to department guidelines and national benchmarks. - Assists patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds with technical staff and nursing assistance as needed. - Transport assignments are dispatched electronically and received via phones and pagers. - Maintains safety standards and uses proper body mechanics while assisting patients in transfer to and from beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and ambulating. - Follow patient identification policy (4.22.137) during each transport. - Safety precautions, i.e. side rails are always in place during transportation. - Assists with patient care activities such as positioning, lifting, and turning patients, restraining combative patients, assisting patients out of bed during transport process. - Properly handles oxygen tanks, infus...
