About the Unit Provide services in accordance with Corewell Health’s commitment to caring for those victimized by sexual assault/abuse, intimate partner violence, child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse and other victims of violence as requested in our community. Under minimal supervision provides and manages professional forensic nursing care to patients in accordance with the Michigan Nurse Practice Act, professional nursing standards, and established hospital and nursing policies and procedures. Exercises professional judgment in utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Works closely with and may direct other professional, ancillary, and/or volunteer personnel providing total nursing care. Collect health data and information related to sexual or physical violence and reports information to the appropriate sources. Maintain documents and prepares reports related to the care provided for those sexually or physically assaulted/abused in the community. Provide courtroom testimony when subpoenaed.
