Job description

Performs all patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse and functions in the role of assistant to the nursing staff. This includes greeting ambulances, taking and recording vital signs, performing EKGs, assisting with procedures, providing hygiene and nutrition, feeding patients as needed, making rounds on a group of assigned patients, stocking supplies, transfer of patients to Med/Surg units, and assisting with the cleaning of patient care equipment. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: - Performs all patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse and functions in the role of assistant to the nursing staff. - Provides and maintains a safe and comfortable environment for the patient, including assisting patients with getting in and out of bed; orienting patients to call light and side rails, maintaining accessibility and answering call light in a timely fashion; staying with restless patients; making and instructing in the use of cough pillows; and assisting in the collection of medical data, vital signs, and cardiac monitoring. - Assists the Registered Nurse with specific components of admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, such a...
