Job description

The Art Gallery Attendant protects the museum's collection, staff, and visitors while at the same time providing world class visitor service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Monitor visitors, staff, vendors, volunteers, and contractors flow through metal detectors at points of entry for potential weapons. - Patrols assigned galleries for theft, vandalism, and unruly behavior among visitors. Reports suspicious activity to managers/supervisors as necessary. - Examines display cases to determine that they are secure and have not been tampered with or damaged. - Warns violators of rule infractions, such as touching works of art, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles. - Watches for and reports irregularities such as damage to art objects, unkept areas requiring the attention of housekeeping, fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors and display cases left unlocked. - Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property and when directed examines brief cases and bags. - Should know the proper names and numbers of different buildings, stairways, elevators, mechanical room, gallery numbers and offices so that they can communicate effectively with t...
