Position Title: Genetics Counselor - Oncology - Stephenson Cancer Center Department: Norman-Medical Oncology Clinic Job Description: General Description: Provides genetics counseling, assessment, clinic service to patients with documentation and follow-up, teaching assistance, clinical supervision, and research assistance. Provides clear and concise genetic counseling to patients. Facilitates with the patient informed decision making about testing, management, and reproductive alternatives. Assessment . Assesses psychosocial factors, recognizing social, educational, and cultural issues. Identifies, coordinates, interprets, and explains genetic laboratory tests and results, and reports other diagnostic studies to the patient. Clinic Service . Elicits and interprets individual, family, medical, developmental, and reproductive histories. Determines mode of inheritance and risk of transmission of genetic conditions and birth defects.
