Description Job Summary: Performs patient specimen analysis and phlebotomy for diagnostic purposes. Under the supervision of a medical technologist, performs procedures in: hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, molecular diagnostics and blood bank. Enters results into and reviews interfaced results in the computer system and notifies medical technologist and health care provider of panic values. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment and appropriate utilization of lab supplies. Follows laboratory policies and procedures. Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Ability to function in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology and immunology. - Performs qualitative urine analysis; color, clarity, specific gravity. - Performs type and cross matches in the blood bank with results reviewed by the medical technologist. - Demonstrates knowledge of expected lab results for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
