Transitional Care Unit (TCU) - Patient Care Technician A Transitional Care Unit (TCU) helps ease patients into dialysis. The first weeks of dialysis involve a great deal of adjustment, along with increased risk of hospitalization and mortality. As a TCU Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will assist in providing patients with a solid foundation to start their dialysis journey. The TCU PCT works in coordination with the TCU nurse to care for and share information with patients to help them feel better and make more informed decisions about their care, including choice of treatment modality—in-center or at-home dialysis. PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and training and in compliance with regulations set forth by the corporation, state, and federal agencies.
