Job description

The EKG Tech performs electrocardiograms to measure the electrical activity of the heart to assist in the diagnosis of heart ailments. The EKG Tech edits and forwards final test results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision. Job Function: - Technical Tasks: This will have been satisfactorily performed when; - Procedures are clearly explained to patients/families while maintaining patient privacy at all times as evidenced by lack of complaints. - Electrocardiograms are edited through EKG computer paying attention to detail and seeking help if needed at all times. - Test results and edited EKGs are accurately and routinely posted on patient chart immediately upon completion of editing and transcription. - Assistance is provided to physicians and nurses in stress lab in patient prep and computer operations as requested. - Equipment is cleaned and maintained according to prescribed guidelines on every shift. - Procedures are explained to the patient and informed consent secured as indicated/necessary at all times. - Set up and prep halter monitor patients. - The employee functions inde...
